Centre Director Ophthalmology
Lead the Launch. Shape the Future.
About the department
At Welbeck, we’re redefining private day surgery with a simple philosophy: medical excellence without compromise. Our specialist centres combine clinical credibility with calm, patient-centred environments designed around people, not process.
We’re opening a new Ophthalmology Day-Case Centre – and we need a Centre Director who can do more than run an operation.
About the role
As Centre Director, you’ll be accountable for clinical quality, patient experience, people, and performance. You’ll blend strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, partnering with consultants, theatre teams, and corporate colleagues to deliver world-class care.
Your mission: create the conditions for great care to happen, every day, in every detail.
Launch & Build: Establish patient pathways, develop SOPs and speciality-specific policies, and ensure all kit and consumables are in place.
Leadership: Recruit and develop a multidisciplinary team with the right skill mix and expertise for ophthalmology.
Consultant Partnerships: Build strong relationships to ensure clinics are well supported and aligned with Welbeck standards.
Governance: Act as Registered Manager with the CQC, ideally bringing experience from previous inspections.
Performance: Manage budgets, optimise utilisation, and maximise profitability while maintaining outstanding clinical care.

About Welbeck Health Partners
Welbeck Health Partners was founded by a group of leading healthcare specialists who strongly believed that better care was possible, and that an entirely new sort of organisation was needed to deliver this.
Through working in partnership with expert teams of doctors, architects, and operations experts, our flagship centre, OneWelbeck, was created.
OneWelbeck is now a private healthcare facility like no other, with eighteen specialties all under one roof all uniquely created to put the patient first, as well as our own Surgery Centre.
Our flagship building continues to grow, with further specialties planned as well as opening two regional centres in 2026 to expand our offering beyond London.
