About the department
Our brand‑new Minimally Invasive Procedure Suite forms a key part of the patient journey within Welbeck Orthopaedics & Neurology, providing a calm, safe and highly supportive environment for individuals undergoing pain management procedures, minor orthopaedic interventions and infusion therapies. Working closely with theatre practitioners, consultants and wider MDT colleagues, the service ensures every patient receives seamless, personalised and clinically credible care from admission to discharge.
The Procedure Suite is designed around dignity, communication and technical precision, supporting patients throughout their peri‑operative experience. Our team plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe environment, preparing theatre spaces, assisting with procedures and enabling smooth recoveries.
About the role
As a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) within our Procedure Suite Theatre team, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, efficient and high quality peri‑operative care. Working under the supervision of registered practitioners, you will support patient preparation, assist during minor procedures, manage equipment and maintain theatre readiness.
You will play an active role in supporting consultants and theatre teams, performing delegated peri‑operative tasks, managing documentation, checking sterilised equipment and helping to create a reassuring, patient‑centred environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with theatre experience who is keen to build their skills within a modern, forward‑thinking surgical setting.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the safe and efficient delivery of peri‑operative care as part of the theatre team
Support patients with dignity and compassion, including chaperoning and personal care where required
Prepare patients for minor procedures and ensure smooth transitions into and out of theatre
Carry out delegated clinical tasks, including documentation and safe handling of specimens
Check and prepare sterilised equipment, escalating any concerns promptly
Move and handle equipment, wheelchairs and trolleys in line with manual‑handling procedures
Communicate clearly with patients, consultants and the theatre team, escalating concerns appropriately
Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and well‑organised environment in line with infection‑prevention standards
Monitor stock levels and support theatre staff with equipment setup and routine safety checks
Participate in audits related to patient transfer and positioning
Contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture, supporting fellow HCAs where needed

About you
You are an experienced Healthcare Assistant with:
Experience in a hospital, procedure suite or day‑surgery environment
At least one year’s experience working within a theatre setting
Current BLS certification
A passion for delivering safe, person‑centred care in a fast‑paced clinical environment
You are organised, calm under pressure and confident supporting consultants and practitioners within theatre. You bring strong communication skills, empathy and professionalism to every patient interaction, and you take pride in maintaining excellent standards of safety, documentation and infection control.
You are committed to learning, teamwork and supporting high‑quality surgical care within a modern day‑case environment.
