Group Clinical Director
Lead clinical governance across Welbeck as Group Clinical Director: empower clinicians, safeguard patient outcomes, and steer growth with clarity, compassion, and accountability.
About Welbeck
Welbeck is a growing network of specialist day case centres focused on delivering outstanding private healthcare. The centres are led by clinicians and designed around patients. Consultants are given the autonomy to practise at the highest level, supported by clear governance and a strong operational foundation.
As Welbeck expands across the UK and internationally, consistency is critical. Clinical quality, patient safety and patient experience must be dependable across every centre. The model is built on partnership and professional trust, creating an environment where clinicians can perform at their best within a disciplined and commercially sound structure.
About the Role: Group Clinical Director
The Group Clinical Director is a senior clinical leadership role with responsibility for maintaining and strengthening standards across the Welbeck network. The role operates at peer level within a consultant led model, ensuring that clinical independence is matched by clear accountability and strong governance.
Working closely with Centre Directors, Consultant Partners, the Chief Medical Officer and the Executive Leadership Team, the Group Clinical Director ensures that governance and regulatory standards are applied consistently in every location.
A central part of the role is establishing and maintaining a coherent governance framework that supports growth without allowing quality to drift. This includes oversight of clinical risk, assurance processes and regulatory readiness, alongside the development of outcome measures that demonstrate performance clearly to patients, insurers, partners and regulators.
The Group Clinical Director also acts as a senior adviser to clinical and operational leaders. This may involve supporting complex service decisions, addressing performance concerns or advising on the mobilisation of new centres. The role requires judgement and pragmatism. It calls for someone who can translate governance principles into practical expectations that work in day to day clinical settings.

You are thoughtful and measured. You understand how clinical pathways, workforce decisions and operational pressures connect across multiple sites. You are able to engage senior executives and present complex information in a way that supports clear decision making.
You are motivated by the opportunity to shape standards across a growing network and to ensure that patient outcomes remain central as the organisation scales.

About Welbeck
Welbeck was founded by a group of leading healthcare specialists who strongly believed that better care was possible, and that an entirely new sort of organisation was needed to deliver this.
Through working in partnership with expert teams of doctors, architects, and operations experts, our flagship centre in London was created.
Welbeck is now a private healthcare facility like no other, with eighteen specialties all under one roof all uniquely created to put the patient first, as well as our own Surgery Centre.
Our flagship building continues to grow, with further specialties planned as well as opening two regional centres in 2026 to expand our offering beyond London.
