About Welbeck Cambridge
Welbeck Cambridge is a state-of-the-art private day-case centre created to deliver exceptional healthcare in an environment designed around the needs of patients and clinicians alike. As part of the wider Welbeck Health Partners network, the centre provides diagnostics, outpatient services and day-case procedures across a range of specialties, combining clinical excellence with outstanding service.
At Welbeck, we believe healthcare should be seamless, reassuring and genuinely patient-centred. Every interaction matters, and we're committed to creating an experience that is efficient, professional and welcoming from the very first enquiry through to treatment and beyond.
As our services continue to grow, we're looking for passionate and talented people who share our ambition to raise standards and help redefine the private healthcare experience.
About the role
As a Pre / Post Operative Nurse at Welbeck Cambridge you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional perioperative care within a modern day-case environment. Working across the patient pathway, you'll support patients from pre-operative assessment and admission through to recovery and discharge, ensuring every stage of their journey is safe, efficient, and centred around their individual needs. You'll work autonomously while collaborating closely with consultants and multidisciplinary colleagues to provide outstanding clinical care and patient experiences.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated nurse or ODP who enjoys variety, clinical autonomy, and working as part of a high-performing team. You'll use your expertise to assess patient suitability for surgery, recognise and respond to clinical deterioration, support service delivery, and contribute to continuous quality improvement within a growing independent healthcare organisation.
What You'll Be Doing
Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care across the patient pathway, including pre-assessment, admission, recovery, and discharge.
Complete comprehensive patient assessments and determine suitability for day-case surgery, escalating concerns where appropriate.
Monitor patients throughout the perioperative period, recognising and responding to deteriorating patients using NEWS2 and established escalation pathways.
Provide compassionate, patient-centred care and education to ensure patients are informed and supported throughout their treatment.
Administer prescribed treatments and medications safely, ensuring patients meet discharge criteria before leaving the centre.
Work closely with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to deliver seamless, efficient care and positive patient outcomes.
Support clinical governance, audit, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives across the service.
Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge, and helping maintain high clinical standards.
About you
You'll be a registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with experience working within a perioperative, surgical ward, or day-case environment. Passionate about delivering outstanding patient care, you'll combine strong clinical skills with excellent communication and organisational abilities, ensuring patients feel informed, reassured, and supported throughout their surgical journey.
We're looking for someone who is calm under pressure, confident in clinical decision-making, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. You'll have a good understanding of pre-operative assessment, patient safety, clinical escalation, and post-operative care, alongside a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, governance, and patient-centred care. Above all, you'll embody Welbeck's values through every patient and colleague interaction.

About Welbeck
Welbeck was founded by a group of leading healthcare specialists who strongly believed that better care was possible, and that an entirely new sort of organisation was needed to deliver this.
Through working in partnership with expert teams of doctors, architects, and operations experts, our flagship centre in London was created.
Welbeck is now a private healthcare facility like no other, with eighteen specialties all under one roof all uniquely created to put the patient first, as well as our own Surgery Centre.
Our flagship building continues to grow, with further specialties planned as well as opening two regional centres in 2026 to expand our offering beyond London.
